Robert Reinard
Sign of the Times at mmg
Opening Saturday, November 4th from 4-7pm Monique Meloche Gallery presents Sign of the Times. A group exhibition featuring Kim Beck, Máximo González, Kenneth Tin-Kin Hung, Micheal Patterson-Carver, and Carrie Schneider running through January 9, 2010.

What does this have to do with Bob Reinard?

During the opening reception, Máximo González’s alternative/informal economy project El Changarrito will be situated outside the front of the gallery. The changarrito is a small push cart, likened to that often seen in Mexico (or the streets of Chicago for that matter) that sell various items from fresh fruit to black market goods. As a means of intervention or critique, González’s Changarrito has been situated in front of major art fairs, museums, and flea markets --most recently the Venice Biennale-- using it both as a platform for emerging artists as well as a satire of the art market. This time around, El Changarrito will feature the work of Jacob Goudreault and Robert Reinard, two local emerging artists without gallery representation. 100% of sales from El Changarrito goes directly to the artists.

After the opening El Changarrito will be moved inside, and the exhibition within the exhibition will be in the gallery. On some Saturdays during the run of the show, the artists exhibited on El Changarrito will move the exhibition back outside and spend the day promoting their work.

Right now I have several small drawings, a paper construction, and a couple small sculptures. The work may rotate out, or otherwise change over the course of the next few months so check back often!!

I hope you can make the opening, but if you can't the show is up for two solid months!!

Thanks,
New job!!
I've recently accepted a new position with The Chicago Conservation Center and will be leaving Intuit on October 16. Although I'm excited to be moving on to new challenges and to be working at a great place with great people, I'm still sad to be leaving an equally great place with equally great people.
Attack of the Feral Chickens is Funded!!
I was notified that I will be a recipient of a 2009 Community Arts Assistance Program grant from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs for my developing installation Attack of the Feral Chickens. This project was inspired by this news story about the feral chicken problem in my home town which required government intervention. It's going to be a fun installation and this grant is going to make so much possible.
